Surgical Flap Repairs
Overview:
This interactive course acts as an exam revision tool to help you understand skin-flap repairs, explore classic examples, and review key pre-surgery counselling points.
Animations and photo-based case studies allow you to visualise how skin-flap repairs close primary defects. The video demonstration is useful if you are performing a flap repair under supervision, following a plan created by an experienced surgeon.
This course assumes a good understanding of facial anatomy (including danger zones and cosmetic units) and more straightforward surgical procedures, such as dog-ear repairs.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Describe the indications for skin-flap repairs
- Demonstrate how donor skin is moved to close defects in simple skin-flap repairs
- Explain key pre-surgery counselling points for patients undergoing skin-flap repairs
