Overview:

Built on real-life clinical cases, this innovative module uses videos, interactive features, and questions to cover the topic of biopsy techniques. Learn about the indications for different biopsy techniques, including how to perform them correctly, select appropriate areas within different lesions and rashes to optimise diagnostic yield, and determine the size and depth of samples. The module also covers indications for cryotherapy and provides practical tips for treating lesions. 

This course has been designed for all grades of Dermatologists, Dermatology nurses bands 5-8 and Dermatology nursing associates band 4.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify different skin biopsy techniques and their indications
  • Demonstrate the correct technique for performing biopsies and explain how to select optimal sites for biopsy to optimise diagnostic yield
  • Describe the indications for cryotherapy and apply practical tips for its use
